about

Originally released in 1997, Skavoovie and the Epitones sophomore album, Ripe, is revered as a classic in the genre of not so traditional third wave ska. A generous 5 piece horn section drives a energized collection of songs influenced by 60s ska, jazz, sci-fi, comics and swing.

This marked a leap forward in musicianship, composition, and production for a band that comprised of Boston area kids just reaching drinking age.

They toured this album extensively in the U.S. and abroad, and many fans equate this album with nights of dancing, looking sharp, and just putting it all out there.

Their youthful music is heavily inspired by "traditional" 60s ska through a lens of their era. With the debut originally on the venerable indie Moon Ska label. They played, recorded, people danced, and fun was had by all. ... more
